What are drum pumps

A drum pump is used as the most practical way to remove liquid from a container, designed to allow the safe and efficient transfer of fluids from barrels, drums or storage tanks. Ranging from simple syphon-based devices to sophisticated machinery, drum pumps eliminate problems encountered by the manual handling of toxic chemicals.

What types of drum pumps are there?

There are three main types of drum pumps available – electrically operated, manually operated and pneumatically operated and they all work differently depending on the job you want them to do. Electrically operated systems are good for use with large quantities of drum drainage volume; Pneumatic pumps use air motors and are used in large-scale events where electric motors are ill-advised. Manual pumps are ideal for remote pumping applications and in instances where there is little to no power available.

What Drum Pump is best?

You need to make sure the pump is best suited for your needs. Having the right pump for the job can minimise the risks of injuring yourself and others. There are many different models to choose from, each having a unique functionality in finding the best solution for you. Here are some examples of the types of pumps we offer at ScopeNEXT:

The NX Pump

Based on a patented pistonless displacement method of operation means that there are no friction parts to inhibit the performance of the pump, even when continuously dispensing very viscous products. The anti-drip nozzle feature alleviates the problems of drips by simply rotating the nozzle upwards thus closing the product-flow pathway, dispensing on both the up-stroke and down-stroke. The unique patented design of the NX Drum Pump helps reduce the time it takes to dispense product from drums by continuously dispensing through its operating cycle with ease and efficiency. The NX Pump also has excellent chemical resistance, manufactured from food-grade polypropylene components and suitable for a wide range of chemicals including oils, resins, acids, alkalis and chlorine-based liquids. Both our NX 25 drum pump and the NX 200 litre drum feature only two moving parts. The NX 25 drum pump is suitable for 20 to 25 litre/ 4-5 gallon containers and dispenses approximately 180ml/6oz per stroke. The NX 200 is suitable for 100 to 200 litre containers and dispenses approximately 400ml per stroke. Both are ideal as an AdBlue pump, DEF pump and is EPA compliant. A 2-Year Manufacturer’s Warranty comes with our NX Pump products.

Syphon Pumps

Our Syphon pumps are available in 2 drum/container sizes. A 200Ltr (55 gallon) and a 25Ltr (5 gallon) option. These pumps typically allow for the user to empty their container in one action and are suitable for dispensing small amounts from drums to smaller containers. It is a very lightweight and low cost pump making it a disposable cost effective option for company use or to increase the benefit you give to your own customers. The SNXSP606 is a food-approved syphon pump and is ideal for use with 200 Litre or 55 Gallon Drums.Samples and prices are available upon request. The SNXSP602 model is ideal for smaller-sized drums at 20-25 Litres or 5 Gallon Drums.

Solvent Pumps

Solvent pumps are designed to withstand the toughest of chemicals. Made from durable materials such as Teflon and stainless steel, these pumps promote durability and offer a dispersing solution for almost any liquid. The SNX SS96 solvent resistant drum pump is made out of high quality stainless steel with PTFE seals and a PTFE suction tube. The components of this pump are designed to specifically handle solvents. Make sure to always wear the correct PPE when handling toxic chemicals.
